So Stinkin' Sad And Happy...

Little Red has a new favorite saying. When he gets in trouble or does something wrong or if he doesn't like what I have to say, he says "Mommy, dat is jest so sad" while sporting the most pitiful face ever. It was pretty funny the first few times, but now it is getting old. You know he's mad for real when you get the "so sad" along with the "you're not my best fwiend anymore."

Later today we are heading south. LR is going to Camp Nanu & Pop to fish and play in the country. I know he will have a blast. Mr. Sass and I are headed to enemy territory (aka Auburn) for a weekend wedding extravaganza.

The wedding is here...

I'll be wearing this...

and these are my dancin' shoes. Anyone wanna place bets on how long I'll be able to keep 'em on my tootsies...
Who cares as long as I look cute, right?

Best Friends Foreva!

Little Red now has a bestie! He has been mentioning Gabe, his friend from school very regularly. Yesterday he told me that Gabe is now his "best fwiend". Until yesterday I've always been his "best fweind" (most of the time). Tear. Guess he is outgrowing me.

Last night we were doctoring one of LR's (many) boo-boos. I put some medicine and a Transformer band aid on it and LR was all set. A few minutes later he came back and told me he needed the medicine to take to school. I'm certain my face showed a look of confusion because he promptly said, "I need it to fix Gabe's boo-boo on his knee. I can make it aw better." Be still my heart. Y'all, I nearly melted into a puddle on the floor. My little tough boy totally has a soft side. Don't tell his daddy!

WARNING!

I got this email earlier and wanted yall to be aware. Between this and Swine Flu, I'm considering drastic measures...

The (CDC) Center for Disease Control has issued a medical alert about a highly contagious, potentially dangerous virus that is transmitted orally, by hand, and even electronically. This virus is called Weekly Overload Recreational Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from your boss, any of your colleagues or anyone else via any means whatsoever - DO NOT TOUCH IT!!! This virus will wipe out your private life entirely. If you should come into contact with WORK you should immediately leave the premises.

Take two good friends to the nearest liquor store and purchase one or both of the antidotes - Work Isolating Neutralizer Extract (WINE) and Bothersome Employer Elimination Rebooter (BEER). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system. Be a good citizen and notify others of this alert. If you do not have five friends, you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life.

Just Add Water

Lake Daze have officially begun. We spent the day Saturday fishing and boating. Brooke & Scotty are in the process of building a fabulous house (I really should have taken pictures of its awesomeness). Here is the view from their bedroom. Rough life, huh?
Little Red LOVED every minute of it. It's a miracle he didn't get snake bit or covered in poison ivy.
LR took his first spin in a kayak and was actually pretty good at the whole paddling thing. I can't for the life of my figure out what is so fun about kayaking. I'm quite the adventurer, but have no desire to even go there. I mean you are STUCK in that tiny, silly looking boat all alone. There isn't even a place for a cooler. Craziness I tell ya, but Mr. Sass obsessed, so I'm thinking I need to up our life insurance policy.
And this little ladies man is Blaine. He is Brooke and Scotty's one year old. He is ALL BOY just like LR. He is one tough cookie with the sweetest little (dirty) face. He musta fallen down a zillion times, but I never even heard him cry. He LOVED my camera and would have gladly posed all day for me.

My cousin, Sara Kate, had a baby girl on Sunday and she is PRECIOUS.
Introducing Harper...
I can't wait to meet her in person. Just look at those sweet rosy cheeks. Mama and baby are doing perfectly.

Workin On My Bizzness

I've been informed that I am slacking (Thanks, Molly). I sincerely apologize for my lack of blogging (Molly). I have been crazy busy this week. The boss man is at the beach livin it up and I am left here to handle the craziness. Can you believe the nerve? Longest. week. of. my. life. It's been madness, I tell ya. 5 o'clock can't get her soon enough. Happy hour on my deck is gonna be hardcore. As captain of this ship I authorized a lunchtime cookout. Yummers! I did not, however, authorize the the wearing of tube tops at work. Not a pretty sight on a lady that could be my grandmother. Put some clothes on, woman! I'm just saying.

Little Red and I are going fishing tomorrow. He is PUMPED to say the least. Ever since he caught his first little fishy from the dock on Easter, he has been chomping at the bits to go again. I'm having a hard time believing his patience will be as good this time but we'll see. We pass 2 lakes going to and fro daycare and EVERY time he tells me he wants to "go fwishin in dat lake!" We are headed out on the boat, so I'm sure I'll be his "best fwiend." If you need me tomorrow, I'll be soaking up the rays at the lake with my little man and some great friends.

I'll be traveling for work at the beginning of next week, but I promise (Molly) that I'll be back Tuesday with some seriously blog worthy material.

Just Beachin'

I'm having a really hard time getting back into the groove. All I can think about is the beach and how badly I want to be back there. I'm done with work stress and 8 to 5s with no summer break. Give me a job in a little store on shore and I'll be one happy mama. Guess I should have bought a lottery ticket while I was in Florida. I just can't get my head in the game. Life is super hectic already and the month of May is gonna be no joke around here. From a wedding (and everything leading up to it) to multiple graduation celebrations, birthdays, vacation and anniversaries. My head is spinning as I try to process it all. In an effort to soothe my brain, lets just look at this for a minute...

This was the view from the chair where I happily planted my rear for 2 days straight. Ahhhhhhh!

Yes, this pic is now my computer screen saver, phone background and has been burned into my brain, thank you. Can't ya just hear the waves crashing?

Now, back to reality...

Girls Rule!

The weekend was absolutely fabulous. The group of ladies was perfect- an amazing combination of smart and funny. My tummy hurts from laughing so hard. I got to catch up with old pals and make some great new friends. What can I say? We totally rocked Seagrove Beach. Coming home Sunday was not fun a'tall. I needed at least another week of vacation. At least. I didn't get many pictures. Sorry y'all, I was just too busy having fun.

Here is the bachelorette in all her garb. Congrats, KT!

Keke and me cheezing it up at Bud & Alleys...

And our crew after a fab dinner of seafood alfredo (Thanks, Susie & KT) and before our beach house dance par-tay USA. That's how we roll.

Other gals took tons of pictures, so I am sure I'll have more for you later and don't worry our next girls ONLY getaway is already in the works!

I'm Ba-ack!

And busier than ever. Work is crazy and my head is spinning right 'round. I got work to do, bags to unpack and tons of laundry waiting on me. We had so much fun and my brain is still in vacay mode. I'll just leave you with cuteness from Ramsey's weekend with GiGi and Molly...

I'm Outie!

I am heading to the beach bright and early in the am for a weekend of bachelorette fun-ness. Please note that the beach is the only thing that could get me up before 6 am on my day off. I am so looking forward to basking my buns in the sun while sipping on a fruity drink (or five) with my toes in the sand. I will come back renewed and rejuvenated and ready to take on the world. I hope.

His Name Is Mud...

In true almost 3 year old boy fashion, Little Red went rolling in a rather large mud puddle at school yesterday. Seriously. His teacher said she couldn't tell who he was because he was totally covered from head to toe. That's my boy! He actually had to have a bath at daycare. I've never picked him up clean before. All the teachers thought it was hilarious and LR told me that the other kids laughed at him. Shocker, I know. He says he will NOT ever do it again. I'm having trouble believing him, though. The boy does love to make a mess. The condition of my house & truck prove it. Too bad they didn't get pictures. In his defense he says he was only "spwashing awound" when he accidentally fell in. He assured me that it was not on purpose. Our convo went like this-

Me: Why in the world did you roll in a mud puddle?

LR: I not. I was spwashing all awound in the water and I fell in. It was an askident (accident) and it was scusting (disgusting).

Me: That just wasn't a good idea. You need to stay away from puddles when you are playing outside at school.

LR: I will never ever do dat again. I pwomise with aw my heart.

Somehow I doubt this is my boy's last romp in the mud, especially considering how much his daddy loves to play in it. Who am I kidding? I've been known to get a little mud on my tires, too.

Smokin'

Keke took this fab picture at The Melting Pot during my Birthday Extravaganza.
Talk about hot! This one is a framer fo sho!

Picture This

Power and Internet have been restored at work, so now you get to experience our Easter fun!

Here is the basket full of goodies that was waiting for Little Red on Easter morn...And here is the little stinker (bed head and all) tearing into his fabulous goodies. Yes, there is a sippy cup, shampoo and a new toothbrush in addition to candy, toys and big boy underwear in there and he loved it all, thank you very much!
And here are s few shots from our after church photo shoot at GiGi & B-Bop's house.

We hunted eggs and feasted on a wondermous meal prepared by GiGi.

After the family festivities, we headed to the lake to soak up the sun. Little Red caught his very first fish! Can you even see it? It is a small catfish. He was so very proud of his talking fishy! I can't wait to spend many more days chillin at the lake...

We still don't have power at the Sass House. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be restored when I get home. I must get packing because I'm headed to the beach with KeKe on Friday morning for a girls only weekend & Bachelorette Party for our friend KT. I am so excited I can't stand it. There is nothing this girl loves more than a vacay at the beach complete with Sangria and no boys. Can I get an Amen?

Black Out!

The hood is dark tonight due to a gravity wave (whatever that is) that came through Alabama last night packing 50-7O mph winds knocking trees on houses and power lines a plenty leaving over a hundred thousand Alabamians without power and (insert gasp here) internet. I'm having withdrawals, yall. Luckily we have a generator making us the lone house in the hood with power. I'm fairly certain my neighbors hate me right now. And here I am going nuts with my only means to the web being my trusty ole Blackjack. We had a great weekend filled with tons of fun that I can't wait to blog about, but these tiny keys and lack of spell check (don't be editing my post) are putting a hurtin on my mad bloggin skillz, so let's just hope restored power and internet are in my very near future.

Good, Clean Friday Fun

A few photos from one of my many birthday celebrations...

Just look at my sweet boys. I could eat 'em both up.

LR and his B-Bop (my daddy). Together they equal T-R-O-U-B-L-E!

He is such a loving little thang (when I can get him to slow down for 2 seconds). I'll be so sad when he becomes too cool to kiss on his mama.

Happy Easter, Y'all!

Thursday Throwdown

Today is Little Red's Easter Party at school. Please note that I did NOT mix up the days like the Valentine's Day Party debacle in which I was dubbed the worst mother ever. Nope, I bought the cookies, candy and eggs yesterday and put everything into his choo choo basket last night. I even took pictures of him before school! He was so very proud of his basket. When he saw the basket filled with eggs, he excitedly proclaimed, "Dat Easter Bunny bring me all dose eggs!" I went along with it and I can't imagine the smile that will be plastered across his cute little face when he sees the basket the Easter Bunny will be bringing on Easter day. I tried everything to get him to smile for the pictures, but he was way to into the contents of the basket and everything else going on...

Don't be judging the inside of my messy Yukon. Why oh why didn't I shut the door?

He was checking out a cutie patootie little girl with pig tails & a princess basket...

This cuteness was the result of me telling him to stop flirting with said little girlie. And just so you know I will be cleaning the Yukon out today.

I FINALLY got his attention, but what is up with that goofy look on his face? Is that supposed to be a smile?

We were playing Wii at my parents house this weekend. LR is a Dance Dance Revolution fool. He breaks it down like nobodies bizzness.

And here is my little lover boy just a swangin at the park. GiGi HATES this shirt, but it totally cracks me up.

Down With The Sickness

My head feels like it is going to explode and my throat feels like I swallowed sandpaper. Other than that, I am just peachy. Due to these sinus issues combined with my cold medicine induced state, I am fresh out of witty blog banter and am busy just trying to make it through the day. Without further ado, I'll announce the winner of my very first giveaway.

And the winner is...

Shannon at Sunshine and Open Hearts

Congratulations girlie! Please email me at cassiehare at yahoo dot com. I need your address so I can send your basket and get your info to Allison. Thanks to everyone that played along. I loved reading your faves and am always excited to read product reviews from real live folks.

Wish me well at home with Little Red tonight. He can sense weakness and will do his best to capitalize on my sickliness.

Wench Factor

We watched part of Pirates of the Caribbean 3 last night. I can't believe it doesn't scare Little Red one bit. Those pirates totally freak me out. I can't even imagine the make-up and costumes that go in to making those movies. I admit there are times I have to look away because of the gross factor. During the movie we had this convo:

LR- Dat girl can't be a pirate.

Me- What? Why can't she?

LR- She's a gurl and she's too pwitty.

Me- Actually, she can be anything she sets her mind to. You know girls can do anything boys can do.

LR- Nope, only me and Daddy can by pirates. Mommy is too pwitty.

Ack, I didn't know what to say. Do I thank him for calling me pretty and hug his neck or do I stick to my guns and continue explaining that I can be a pirate if I want to be(even though obviously I don't)? Ugh, he got me. One point, LR!

Extreme Home Makeover: Sassy Cass Edition

Here are my not so beautiful kitchen cabinets. They are pickled something or other and I don't like 'em a'tall. We replaced the hardware and molding around the top and they look better, but they still need a makeover...What would you do?
And the floors will be hardwood. Some day.

I want to replace this flimsy baker's rack with a nice sturdy piece of furniture with lots of storage and cabinets so that all my breakables will be protected. I also NEED a window treatment in the bay...
This is my cozy little corner in the kitchen. Keke painted the flowers and the desk is a really old sewing machine table. I am ready to part with the elephant lamp, but I have to find a replacement for it. Any suggestions? I also changed out some of the stuff on the shelf after I took this picture and am much happier with a much less cluttered look.
Look what Allison made me! They are so cute and perfect for my kitchen. I'm not sure they will stay in the window sill, but they seem to look perfect everywhere I put them, so no worries. Check out her etsy store if you haven't already!
And just for fun here is my pantry door plastered with all my lovely birthday cards...

On to the living room...

I NEED curtains for these windows, but have no clue what to do here. I have a severe emotional attachment to the old sewing table. It was my grandmothers and I and have to use it.

This arrangement is over the couch (that I cut out of every single shot unknowingly) . It appears, some of the pictures could also use a little straightening or that could just be my mad photography skills...
This is the only picture I am prepared to show of my bedroom. It is still major chaos in there, but I love these two little diddies and am pleased as punch to have them on the wall!

And here is Little Red, who was madder than snot at me for not letting him take the pictures. After seeing my mad skillz I'm wondering if the pics might have turned out better if I had let him. Mama is no photographer. I won't quit my day job.

Decorating suggestions are welcome and constructive criticism is appreciated.
Don't forget that my giveaway ends at midnight. The winner will be announced Wednesday as long no natural disasters, sick children or other major crises occur, of course!

Give Me A Break

It's nice to FINALLY sit down. We laid the smack down on the house this weekend. We have moved furniture, unpacked a gazillion boxes and hung tons of stuff on the walls. Then we rearanged over and over. I'm pretty sure Mr. Sass is ready to kill me, but I'm having a hard time finding the right spot for all my lovelys. What's a girl to do? I will post pictures and cries for decorating help this week.

Don't forget about my Favorite Things Giveaway that's going down. I'm loving reading about all your faves. Keep 'em coming!

Better Late Than Never

I'm back to the real world just in time for the weekend! Little Red has been fever free for 36 hours and is now having fun at school wearing his Superman pj shirt & cape. Don't judge me! We made a deal and he is wearing jeans.

Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes and love! As my birthday week wraps up, I am so excited to share with you some of my favorite things. It's not like I've built it up or anything... One of my most favorite things is hearing product recommendations from others and I am (usually) open to trying them out.

Hope you enjoy mine! Drum roll, please...

Cherry Diet Dr. Pepper- Even Mr. Sass is digging this tasty drink and he hates ALL things diet.

L’Oreal Double Extend Mascara- This stuff rocks. A cute chick recommended it to me in the make-up aisle at Wally World and she was right on. It doesn't run and it comes off in clumps when you wash your face. No more burning eyes, plus my lashes are long and loverly.

Bath & Body Works Wallflowers in Coconut Lime Verbena & Honeysuckle- These thing are AWE-SOME! I especially love having one in my laundry room. Every time I open the door I get a whiff of wonderfulness. I don't even notice the stench of manly funk. Anymore.

Avon Glazeware Lip Gloss- I'm digging Raisin Glaze & Iced Pink right now. Wear them separately or together.

Juicy Couture Perfume (as always)- This is my signature scent. I just don't see it changing any time soon.

Little Debbie’s 100 Calorie Marshmallow Treats- YUM-O! They are good and I feel like I'm eating something I shouldn't. Just be sure you only eat one, otherwise the whole hundred calorie thing doesn't really apply. They even come in cutesy Easter colors.

These Boots from Target- I feel like I wear them every day. They go with dresses, skirts, pants, jeans, etc. It's a good thing flip-flop season is on the horizon or my work peeps might just think I'm going ca-razy. I rarely wear the same shoes twice in one week. That was before I fell in love with these boots. Note-my new Volatile wedges are quickly catching up!

Nike Tempo Running Shorts- Perfect for working out or lounging around. I have 4 pair. Seriously. They have them at Ross (one of my favorite stores) for about $10 right now. That is almost half price. Shut the front door. I seem to be more likely to work out if I have cute clothes to do it in. And thanks to my dear lil sis, Becca. Now I have 5 pairs and I couldn't be happier!

Jergens Natural Glow Lotion- Gradual color that moisturizes at the same time. Way better than orangey self tanner and perfect for just a touch of color.

Everything Allison at Accents by Alli does- I love her tags, letters, frames, etc. She has FINALLY opened an Etsy shop. You must check her out. Look at the sassy tag she made me. It is almost more cuteness than I can handle.

Fox River Moisture Wick Socks- Best. Socks. Ever. I have never put a lot of thought into the socks I wear until recently. I have realized that the socks are ALMOST as important as the shoes. I said almost. Plus, I love everything Fox River stands for from supporting breast cancer to supplying socks for our overseas troops. BTW, Mr. Sass gave me some Nike moisture wick socks for my bday. I’ll let you know how they stack up. Hot Tamales Candy- I love these little yummies! I attribute part of my weight loss to them since they are actually a low(er) calorie candy. They are perfect for snacking on between meals.

GO MOM! Products- Perfect for staying on top of life and work. I don’t know what I’d do without them.
